Dr Jess Prior is a social developmental psychologist whose main areas of research concern appearance and visible differences in childhood and adolescence. She is interested in how children, adolescents and young adults live with visible differences and psychosocial issues including coping, resilience and self-image. She is a senior lecturer in psychology and qualitative researcher who has employed a number of qualitative methods over almost three decades of research. She has had very good collaborations with charities and organisations who support children who look or feel ‘different’.
