Amelia Ernest-Shay

PhD Researcher at Edge Hill University

Amelia Ernest-Shay is a fourth-year researcher at Edge Hill University, under the supervision of Clare Woolhouse, Marcus Hill and David Aldridge. She is a functional skills maths lecturer and an accounting lecturer, with experience in the psychology of education. Her doctoral thesis surrounds mathematics anxiety and fear of mathematics and its impact on sSelf-esteem, using phenomenographic analysis. She also holds a BA in accounting, PGCE in further education with maths specialism, a PGCTHE in education and a Master’s by Research in education. Her research interests surround engagement in mathematics education and psychology of education, with a particular focus on how and why children learn.
