Â鶹ÒùÔº Statement

Â鶹ÒùÔº is deeply saddened by the death of Professor Jason Arday. We are especially mindful of those Â鶹ÒùÔº members who knew Jason personally or worked closely with him and send our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.Ìý

At times like this, we also acknowledge the emotional impact on our community. We should reflect upon the need to act at all times with empathy and treat one another with compassion, care and understanding.
Ìý
This is a time for reflection. All of us should consider our own actions, structures and assumptions and the ways these may affect others. We can all listen, learn and improve, reminding ourselves that care for one another, a commitment to inclusivity and a willingness to understand different experiences and perspectives should remain central to how we work and conduct ourselves. We must be clear that rigour, fairness and inclusivity are mutually reinforcing values, not competing priorities.Ìý
Ìý
This is a human tragedy, and our thoughts are first and foremost with Prof. Arday’s family and those who knew and loved him. We recognise that people may be affected by this news in different ways. We have brought together a range of mental health and wellbeing resources that may offer support during this difficult time.
Ìý
If you are struggling with your mental health or finding things particularly difficult, please consider reaching out for support from a trusted person, your workplace or a professional support service. You do not have to manage this alone.
