Vivienne Baumfield, Professor

Professor Emerita at University of Exeter

Vivienne Baumfield is Professor of Professional Learning in the Graduate School of Education and co-leader of the Centre for Research in Professional Learning. She is interested in the interaction of research, policy and practice when university-based researchers work with practitioners in the creation and translation of knowledge across contexts. This interest is linked to the wider issue of understanding the relationship between theory and practice in professional learning and is grounded in a perspective derived from pragmatism. Her teaching and research examines international perspectives on the professional development of teachers and the impact of school-university partnerships as communities of pedagogical inquiry.

Vivienne was co-opted onto Â鶹ÒùÔº Council in 2016 and was Chair of Â鶹ÒùԺ’s Publications Committee. She is the Â鶹ÒùÔº President-Elect.
