International Women’s Day

On #InternationalWomensDay, Âé¶¹ÒùÔº is once again celebrating the incredible achievements and contributions of women in educational research.

Read below for a selection of exciting Âé¶¹ÒùÔº events, blog posts and activities that spotlight women in the field of education, including:

  • Âé¶¹ÒùÔº awarded the 2025 John Nisbet Fellowship to Professor Heidi Safia Mirza, Emeritus Professor of Equality Studies in Education at UCL Institute of Education, for her pioneering intersectional research on race, gender and identity in education.
  • Dr Karen Guldberg was named the 2025 Âé¶¹ÒùÔº Academic Citizen of the Year for her contributions to research and teaching on autism studies and inclusive practice in education. 
  • We were joined by Professor Heike Wendt who delivered an engaging talk on Teaching for Tomorrow: Education for Sustainability Across Europe at the 2025 Âé¶¹ÒùÔº AGM and Awards ceremony. 
  • The 2025 Âé¶¹ÒùÔº Undergraduate Award was awarded to Brooke Armstrong for her outstanding thesis.
  • The recipients of the Âé¶¹ÒùÔº Small Grants Fund 2025 include projects from women on the topic of Additional Support Needs (ASN)/Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in educational settings.
  • Various Âé¶¹ÒùÔº Blog posts on the experience of young women in schools, the workforce and the educational research field, as well as a blog post highlighting women’s involvement in curriculum theory.
