Call for Âé¶¹ÒùÔº Treasurer from 2028
We are delighted to ask for expressions of interest from the membership for the role of Âé¶¹ÒùÔº Treasurer. From 1 January 2027, Âé¶¹ÒùԺ’s governance structure is changing, there will be an initial ten trustee roles, and this role is a member of the trustee board. Diana Burton is the current Treasurer and has indicated an intention to stand for a second term but this does not preclude another candidate putting themselves forward. Should it be required, handover will take place during 2027, prior to the successful candidate assuming the role. The term runs from 1 January 2028 – 31 December 2031.
The main duties of the role include:
- Provide strategic leadership through contributing to the oversight of the Âé¶¹ÒùÔº strategic plan and through effective decision making
- Ensure good governance by fulfilling the legal duties of the trustee, acting in the best interests of Âé¶¹ÒùÔº, including overseeing financial sustainability, risk management, compliance, and fulfilling duties as an employer.
- In collaboration with senior office staff, overseeing, approving, and presenting budgets, accounts, financial statements, and financial reports to the Board of Trustees
- Being assured that the financial resources of the organisation meet its present and future needs and are within Âé¶¹ÒùԺ’s charitable objectives.
- Being instrumental in the development and implementation of appropriate financial, reserves policy and investment policies
- Through their role as Chair of Finance and Operations Committee, ensuring good practice in the oversight and support of Âé¶¹ÒùԺ’s office staff
- Through the role as Chair of Finance and Operations Committee, ensuring Âé¶¹ÒùÔº staffing policies are up to date
- Sitting on the CEO review panel
- Work well with the Âé¶¹ÒùÔº professional office, in particular the Finance and Governance Manager and the CEO.

Due to the importance of the position, Âé¶¹ÒùÔº reserve the right to hold a shortlisting and interview process, this will be led by the Âé¶¹ÒùÔº Chief Executive, relevant office staff, and senior members of Âé¶¹ÒùÔº Council. For these purposes, the application detailed. including the CV and the role description will be the basis for deliberations. It is intended interviews are held in the week of 1 September.

Candidates who are attending the Âé¶¹ÒùÔº conference will be invited to a lunchtime meet & greet session with conference delegates.
Candidates taken to election will be asked to film a short c.2-minute video outlining skills and experience to assist members with their vote.

Eligibility and Time Commitment
The Âé¶¹ÒùÔº Treasurer must have current or very recent experience (c.12 months) of Âé¶¹ÒùԺ’s Finance & Operations Committee, Risk Assessment & Audit Committee, or Âé¶¹ÒùÔº Council. Trustee role descriptions can be found here. Further information on Âé¶¹ÒùԺ’s Governance can be found on this page.
To be eligible to stand, candidates must be members of Âé¶¹ÒùÔº at the time of application and remain so for the duration of their term. Candidates must not be ineligible to stand as according to the laws and regulations as set out by the Charity Commission and Companies House.
There are six trustee meetings per year: January (Âé¶¹ÒùÔº office, London), May (conference programming), June (overnight strategic away day), July (virtual), September (held at Âé¶¹ÒùÔº conference), November (Âé¶¹ÒùÔº office, combined with AGM event). The Treasurer also chairs Âé¶¹ÒùԺ’s Finance & Operations Committee, which meets three times per year (ordinarily two virtually, one in person). The time commitment is c.17 days per year. Full expenses are paid in line with Âé¶¹ÒùÔº policies. Âé¶¹ÒùÔº does not normally run hybrid meetings so a commitment to attend these in person unless otherwise stated is essential.
