Call for Applications: Join as TEAN Network Lead

The Â鶹ÒùÔº Teacher Education Advancement Network (TEAN) is seeking up to two new members to join its network leads and help shape the next phase of TEAN’s development and guide the development and activities of the network. Both individuals will work alongside the current network leads, with one willing to take over as co-chair of the annual TEAN Conference and the other focusing on webinar and network communications. In both roles an interest in pursuing social justice through teaching and teacher education would be welcome, including supporting the development of anti-racist teacher education and decolonising the curriculum.

TEAN is an inclusive community within Â鶹ÒùÔº that supports and champions teacher educators across the UK. Bringing together teachers, teacher educators and researchers, the network creates opportunities to engage with research, share practice and contribute to the evolving field of teacher education.

Â鶹ÒùÔº the role

The network leads meet regularly to discuss TEAN’s priorities, identify emerging issues affecting teacher educators and develop opportunities for the community to connect, collaborate, and share research and practice.

Alongside contributing to the overall direction of TEAN, network leads take an active role in supporting different areas of the network’s programme. These currently include:

  • the annual TEAN Conference, providing a supportive space to share research, practice, and innovation in teacher education;
  • the TEAN webinar programme, exploring key themes and challenges facing the teacher education community;
  • Professional Inquiry, TEAN’s new magazine showcasing practice-based and practitioner-led scholarship; and
  • the continued development of TEAN’s community, activities, and engagement across the UK.

The successful applicant will work alongside the existing group and Â鶹ÒùÔº staff to support the development and delivery of TEAN’s work.

Who are we looking for?

We welcome applications from people involved in teacher education in its broadest sense, including teachers, teacher educators, researchers, and others working within or closely connected to the field.

We are particularly interested in applicants who:

  • are enthusiastic about supporting and developing the teacher education community;
  • have an interest in research, evidence, and/or practitioner-led scholarship;
  • are willing to contribute ideas and take an active role in developing TEAN activities;
  • can work collaboratively alongside the network leads;
  • are interested in the issues, opportunities and pressures currently facing teacher educators;
  • share TEAN’s commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive, and developmental community.
  • will bring diverse perspectives and experiences to the network leads; we particularly welcome applications from those with experience or expertise in anti-racist education and practice.

The deadline for applications is Wednesday 18th November at 23:59.

TEAN aims to reflect the diversity of teacher education across the United Kingdom, and we particularly welcome applications that will broaden the range of perspectives, experiences, career stages, institutions, and geographical representation within the network leads.

This is a voluntary role and provides an opportunity to contribute directly to the development of a UK-wide community of teacher educators, build relationships with colleagues across the sector and help shape TEAN’s future within Â鶹ÒùÔº. There are three meetings per year, with some work required between meetings to facilitate activity.

How to apply

To apply, please complete the application form, providing:

  • your current role and involvement in teacher education;
  • a brief statement outlining why you would like to join the network leads including the experience, perspectives and skills you would bring.

Applications will be considered by current  Â鶹ÒùÔº TEAN network leads, taking into account the experience of applicants alongside the aim of maintaining the leads represent a broad range of perspectives from across the teacher education community.

We look forward to hearing from colleagues who would like to help shape the next chapter of TEAN.
