Melissa Blake is a Design Thinking Teacher at The Perse Upper School in Cambridge. Melissa is a Design & Technology educator with a focus on empowering students to lead through design thinking and iterative problem solving. By embedding these principles into everyday practice, students are equipped not just with technical skills, but with the creative confidence to tackle real-world challenges.
Beyond the classroom, Melissa serves as a Subject Specialist Mentor within an outreach programme, supporting the next generation of DT educators and broadening access to high-quality subject teaching. As Professional Development Lead, she works strategically to shape how content is designed and delivered – ensuring approaches are evidence informed and have maximum impact on learning outcomes.
Melissa’s pedagogical interests sit at the intersection of neuroscience and education, exploring how an understanding of how the brain learns can drive greater educational equity – ensuring every student, regardless of background, has the opportunity to thrive.
