Louise Kay is a lecturer in early childhood in the School of Education at the University of Sheffield. She is a qualified teacher and has worked across all three primary key stages, with the majority of her career spent teaching in the early years. Her current work is involved in the Maker{Futures} project which provides opportunities for children and teachers in primary and early years settings to develop the skills, knowledge and mindsets for future success – inspiring creators, innovators and problem solvers. Louise's research interests include pedagogy in the early years, curricular and assessment frameworks, and the impact policy has on children and teachers. She is also interested in the utilisation of cultural-historical activity theory as a methodological framework.
