Jon Reid, Dr

Associate Professor at Oxford Brookes

Jon Reid is an Associate Professor of education at Oxford Brookes University specialising in inclusive education, special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), and compassion-informed pedagogies. His work is underpinned by a commitment to social justice and improving outcomes for children and young people experiencing adversity. His research explores teachers’ emotional work and wellbeing support in education.
He serves as chief scientific advisor for the Local Policy Lab, a collaboration between Oxford Brookes University, the University of Oxford and Oxfordshire County Council, supporting research that informs policy and practice. Jon is also vice chair of the Institute of Recovery from Childhood Trauma, a national charity promoting recovery for those affected by childhood trauma.
Jon contributes to national policy and practice and works with local authorities, charities and networks to advance compassionate approaches across education, health and social care. His work brings together research, policy and practice to support meaningful and systemic change.
