A leading voice in anti-racist education, Professor Mohammed has made an important impact on educational research, policy and practice in Scotland. Through her research, advocacy and leadership, she has challenged systemic barriers affecting Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) educators and students, while championing more inclusive and equitable approaches across schools, colleges and universities.

Professor Mohammed has played a central role in shaping Scotland’s anti-racist curriculum, including leading work on Breaking the Mould: Principles for an Anti-Racist Curriculum, and has driven national initiatives to embed anti-racist practice in teacher education. As co-founder and Chair of the Scottish Association of Minority Ethnic Educators (SAMEE), she has also supported the professional development of educators of colour and strengthened inclusion across the education sector.
