There is no time like the present to look at our world as it is. This important truth has been brought home to us by Covid-19. Plastic, food and water waste on the one hand: poverty, global warming and disease on the other. How can we balance the needs of our growing cities while also respecting the needs of our planet? There is no doubt that we live in a challenging moment in history. But what about the future?
Education for Sustainable Development allows every human being to acquire the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values necessary to shape a sustainable future (UNESCO 2014). So can the lessons we learn together in the present contribute to brighter days ahead? Can the curriculum we build together in the classrooms of today offer hope for the world of tomorrow?
To tackle these vital questions, The British Curriculum Forum presents 鈥淏uilding a Curriculum for a Sustainable Future鈥, an interactive virtual conference event bringing together educators from schools, colleges and universities from across the UK nations with a passion for curriculum and sustainable development.
